Question 1: How does it work?
Simple! Just type in the requested information such as the customers’ name, address, city, state, zip, phone number and email address.
Then provide the Bank name, account, and routing number. (Email notices will be sent to the customer informing about the recent debit. If valid email isn’t provided, Checks ByPhoneOnline will use postal to mail a notice for a slight additional fee.)
Question 2: What does it cost?
Fees are based on the percentage of dollar amount processed, which means you are never charged for money that isn't processing.
There is a one-time setup fee, no monthly fees, only a percentage based on the transaction amount and volume.
Question 3: What advantages do I have by offering this service to my customers?
Offering alternative methods of payment increases convenience for your customers and increases the
number of people eligible to purchase your goods or services.
Question 4: How does Checks By Phone handle confidential information?
Confidential information is sent over a secure SSL connection to our encrypted database.
Question 5: Do I need a merchant account through my bank?
No, a standard business checking account is all you need.
Question 6: When can I process a check or speak with a customer representive?
We are available 8:3:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. EST.
Question 7: How does Checks By Phone handle bad checks?
Check By Phone verifies every check through multiple national check databases for positive or negative
account information and risk level status. By verifying if the account exists, is closed, or
currently in a NSF status we, cut back significantly on check fraud. We also search a national database of
check writers to ensure that bank accounts do not have unpaid NSF fees with companies and banks.
Question 8: Can I get started today?
Yes!
Question 9: How is this different than a software program where I print my own checks?
With Check By Phone we handle transactions for thousands of companies to your bank. Most banks will not accept a demand draft (which is what you create with a software program). We deposit electronically through our partner bank.
Question 10: Is there a limit to the amount of my transaction?
You can process unlimited drafts per day, however you may only process individual drafts up to $2,500.00 per day per customer (For amounts larger then $2,500.00 call for approval).
Question 11: Will I ever speak with a representive outside the U.S.?
No
Question 12: Can my checks still bounce?
We use an online funds tracking system to verify funds but checks do occasionally still bounce.
